I've since realized it will be a year or more until my body has fully healed. And so, yes, I continue to use sugary foods as a sort of substitute. But I eat a very health diet; a lot of fresh salads, fruits, grains, and I've replaced animal products with soy substitutes.

I found your comments ver very interesting and funny....sober as a judge, that is a phrase thrown around a lot! Why do we have to have these labels, why label? As you say, clean and sober as opposed to dirty and drunk, It is actually offensive isn't it.

I say remove the label, like I do with sizes on my clothes lol

I like your blog. I've been quit for a while, but sometimes it is difficult. I was at an AA meeting last week when someone said he'd been seven months sober and was miserable. People just let him talk and nodded their heads. AA is only as healthy as the people in the group. If people aren't letting you feel comfortable being honest, maybe you should find a different group. Toward the end of my drinking days, alcohol did not help me blot out the issues that I faced in life, and in fact made me more stressed...I was drinking beer and obsessing over minutia.

The first six months really sucked for me, and even now, or especially now, I deal with a lot of melancholy days...but I shudder at how bad these might be if I still drank.

I've never been much of a drinker, food has always been my drug of choice. So while I can't relate to the struggles of physical withdrawal that you may feel I can relate to the question... How does one live this life without a crutch?

Ice Breakers gum in melon/kiwi is sugarless and supposedly whitens teeth, chases my cravings away even though it's sugarless.

Try making these watermelon ices in your blender adding a little sugar and the rest, Splenda.
